NEW SPRING MAKEUP TRENDS IN 2017 YOU HAVE TO TRY!

Is it officially time to retire your matte lipsticks and contour palette? I never thought I would see the day. I personally will still rock my mattes in every season, but based on the latest Spring trends there’s a new technique you have to try.

Last year it was all about strobing and contouring. During New York fashion week in February we got a lot of sneak peeks of what is to come for Spring 2017. I ventured out to Ulta Beauty to shop for the products from my favorite brands and put them together in two different makeup looks. I think they are a good interpretation of contouring for the everyday girl, aka not a professional makeup artist. These are a bit more realistic and much easier to achieve. Let’s talk about my favorite looks.

SMUDGED EYELINER

For some reason I’m gravitating towards this trend, the grunge carefree look. As you can see in my first makeup look it was hard not to add a cat-eye liquid liner afterwards but I pulled through. I tend to smoke out eyeshadow on the lower lash but decided to give it a try on top too. There’s no technique to it just add a dark eyeshadow or pencil liner and slowly smudge it out with a brush on the top and bottom of your lash line. I tried it with the Revlon Colorstay 2 IN 1 Angled Kajal in the shade 104 Graphite which comes with a helpful brush on the other end.

DEWY SKIN

We want skin that looks more radiant and healthy. As much as I love and need full coverage matte foundations, sometimes it’s good to let the skin breathe a little. On my second makeup look, instead of baking the entire face and adding layers of powder try to only do it lightly underneath the eyes to prevent creasing. It took a lot practice for me to master this, but I think it’s safe to say you don’t need to do that many steps to achieve flawless skin. Instead, for a dewy glowing face use a foundation that is more for dry skin instead of matte and add a little highlight on the top of your cheeks. It’s a little more moisturizing. I’m using the Revlon Colorstay foundation in the shade 320 True Beige for a hydrating look to my skin.  On the high points of my face I reached for the Tarte Amazonian Clay Highlighter in the shade Exposed Highlight. The velvet consistency helped blend it on a lot smoother on top of my cheeks.

GLOSSED BOLD LIPS

I think the goal here is to bring more dimension to the lips. I remember playing with my Barbie lip gloss and when I was much younger and dreaded the look of any color to the lips until I was in my early twenties.  I can totally agree that a gloss is fresh and buoyant. I went for peach toned gloss. This is the Tarte Tarteist Gloss Lip Paints in the shade Goals. I like that you don’t have to worry about sticky lips.

FLUSHED SKIN

A flushed skin makes your skin pop as it looks sun-kissed. We saw this a lot on the catwalk. Apply it generously and slightly higher on your cheekbones. One of my favorite shades is this one from Clinique in the shade 107 Sunset Glow. I saw it on a beauty consultant at Ulta Beauty in the makeup aisle and had to instantly buy it. It has a minimal amount of shimmer and really makes your skin stand out. The trend also calls for a similar eyeshadow on the lids. For that same peachy look, I used the Too Faced Peach palette. I only used one beautiful shade, Bellini.
